Do you feel overwhelmed by your Hurts, Habits & Hang-ups?
Are you looking for real hope and meaning in your life?

Welcome to Celebrate Recovery
Come as you are...It will change your Life!

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. It is a safe place to find a community and lasting freedom from the issues that are controlling our lives.

Celebrate Recovery is a program based on the Beatitudes. It is currently being used in over 3500 churches nationwide and internationally.  The leadership team at the Marion church is comprised of individuals from several different backgrounds and who have become victorious over their hurts, habits & hang-ups, through Christ and with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

CR is unique in that it has six features:

  1. It is based on the Bible alone.
  2. It is forward-looking.
  3. CR emphasizes personal responsibility.
  4. It emphasizes spiritual commitment to Jesus.
  5. CR utilizes the biblical truth that we need each other, and Jesus in particular, in order to grow spiritually & emotionally.
  6. CR addresses all types of hurts, habits & hang-ups.

Celebrate Recovery started in 1991 in Lake Forest, California. At that time, Saddleback Church was meeting at a high school gymnasium. CR author John Baker wrote to Pastor Rick Warren the “now-famous, concise, 13-page, single-spaced” letter outlining the vision God had given John for Celebrate Recovery. After reading John’s letter, Pastor Rick said, “Great, John — go do it!” The first night 43 people attended, and Celebrate Recovery was born. Beginning with only four Open Share Groups, the ministry has grown to over 14 groups today.

The first 10 years were the birth stage of Celebrate Recovery, and now God is calling participants to take it to the world. There are now 35,000 Celebrate Recovery churches around the world, and that number continues to grow. It is a movement that is bringing the healing power of Jesus Christ to the hurting and broken. To date, over 5 million individuals have completed a Step Study.

By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.

You may be thinking that recovery is just for those with alcohol or drug problems. Only about one-third of the people attending Celebrate Recovery are dealing with chemical dependencies. All of life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups are addressed through this one curriculum. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is something that hinders your walk with God. Healing is available through applying the principles of a Bible based recovery process to our lives.

CHARACTERISTICS OF GROUPS

Celebrate Recovery meets every week. The Large Group, Newcomer 101 and Open Share and Step Study groups meet until completion of the participant guides which is typically nine to twelve months.

HOW IT WORKS

In order to gain the full benefit of Celebrate Recovery, participants are encouraged to attend Large Group, Open Share Groups and participate in a Step Study group. In Large Group we hear teachings on the 8 principles and the 12 Christ-Centered Steps and personal testimonies of changed lives. Open Share groups provide recovery specific issues and solutions while step study groups provide an opportunity to thoroughly work the steps in a group setting rather than alone.

Celebrate Recovery Open Share Groups CAN:

  • Provide you a safe place to share your experiences, strengths, and hopes with others that are also going through a Christ-Centered Recovery.
  • Provide you with a leader who has gone through a similar hurt, hang-up or habit and who will facilitate the group as it focuses on a particular Step each week. The leader will also follow Celebrate Recovery’s “Small Group Guidelines,” listed below.
  • Provide you with the opportunity to find an Accountability Partner or a Sponsor.
  • Encourage you to attend other recovery meetings held throughout the week.

Celebrate Recovery Open Share Groups Will NOT:

  • Attempt to offer any professional advice. Our leaders are not counselors. At your request, we can provide you with a list of approved counseling referrals.
  • Allow its members to attempt to “fix” one another.

SMALL GROUP GUIDELINES

These guidelines are designed to provide a safe and productive meeting for everyone in both Open Share and Step Study Groups. Everyone must honor these guidelines throughout the meetings.

  1. Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts, feelings, and the workbook questions. Please limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes.
  2. There is NO cross talk please. Cross talk is when two people engage in a dialogue during the meeting. Each person is free to express feelings without interruptions.
  3. We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” another.
  4. Anonymity and Confidentiality are basic requirements. What’s shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.
  5. Offensive language/graphic descriptions have no place in a Christ-centered recovery group.

Prayer for Serenity

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is;
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
AMEN
